Last Friday I ventured into a Costco with a short shopping list.  Toilet paper was on the list.  I grabbed the Costco brand Kirkland Bath Tissue and we were out the door.  It wasn't until we opened it that I discovered that every single roll was separately wrapped in PLASTIC!  In the past the rolls have been individually wrapped in paper which always struck me as unnecessary but to see them wrapped in PLASTIC made me want to scream.  I called Costco this morning and expressed my disgust at the "new and ocean destroying" packaging.  I made it clear to them that I would NEVER purchase this product again and that I would tell my friends to boycott it until they figured out a less destructive way to package their product.

It just kills me to see plastic being used so excessively.  The slogan on the side is "Safe for Septic Systems", seems to me they should add "Unsafe for Oceans and Sea Life".  Grrrrrrrr

Totally harmful and unnecessary!! Isn't the one giant plastic wrap enough?

Buying the package for household use just highlights the plastic overkill, but I guess janitorial companies might buy a package like that and leave individual rolls in different offices/washrooms to be 'sanitary' and 'hygienic'? Still overkill-- I'm just trying to figure out the rationale behind it.

Hi Dana,

They (Costco) informed me that "west coast purchasers are reselling the individual rolls and have requested plastic packaging." I am sorry but I am a west coast purchaser and I most definitely do not resell them and think even if you are a reseller you should be able to handle paper wrapping. Somehow this is just a west coast phenomena... they claim to just be giving their customers what they want so as "their customer" I felt the need to tell them it was not what I want or will buy. sigh.

Hi Harmony,

it's crazy, isn't it? I bought a pack of weiners last week for a bbq and opened them up to find out they were all individually wrapped! What the?

On a happier note, I just checked out your "Planted Seeds." LOVE the new designs you've got coming!

Laura
