In 1976, Suzanne created the first hand-made Japanese style cotton futon in Boston as a student at the Boston Museum School of fine arts.
Suzanne was influenced by Michio Kushi, a Japanese natural healer and he taught her the health benefits of sleeping on natural fibers instead of poly- urethane foam, which is typically used in mattresses. 35 years later Suzanne continues to manufacture natural and healthy futons. She has manufactured over 2 million futon mattresses, specializing in green and organic ingredients. The Futon Shop's mission has been the same as when it started, to create a better and healthy night's sleep, by providing premium green and organic materials and the best comfort in all mattresses, all made in America. The Futon Shop features organic futon covered in the Harmony Art organic fabric of your choice. |
